Jamaican Callaloo Rice is an easy, healthy and filling dinner. Made from white rice and callaloo, this combination creates a dish that can be enjoyed at lunch or dinner.


Callaloo Rice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 can JCS Callaloo, drained

  • 1 teaspoon Grace Caribbean Traditions Ginger Garlic Pimento Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon Grace Chicken Seasoning
    (Buy Now)
  • 1 tsp Grace Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Grace All Purpose Seasoning

  • 4 Ocho Rios Pimento berries, whole

  • 2 sprigs thyme
  • 1 stalk escallion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, chopped
  • ½ medium onion, chopped
  • ¼ yellow bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1-pound White Rice
  • 3 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper


    • In a medium pot, melt butter and sauté escallion, garlic, onion, bell pepper, tomato, thyme, pimento berries and scotch bonnet pepper sauce for 3 minutes.
    • Add Callaloo and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring continuously.
    • Wash rice in a large bowl 2-3 times or until water runs clear
    • Add rice to callaloo mixture and add 3 cups water to cover rice.
    • Season pot with black pepper, all purpose seasoning, chicken seasoning and ginger garlic pimento seasoning.
    • Lower heat to a low flame when the water is reduced from pot and allow rice to steam for another 25-30 minutes, or until the rice grains are soft and tender.
    • Enjoy
